A lot of cat owners are moving more towards providing homemade diets for their cats and with good reason! The benefits of providing raw or cooked homemade food are numerous but only when complete and balanced so no vital nutrients are missing. That can be challenging when your cat has kidney disease, that’s where CompleteMe Renal Feline from the Veterinary Nutrition Group comes in. The CompleteMe Feline Renal blend when used correctly will create a diet that is phosphorus-restricted, with controlled calcium and sodium levels that are suitable for cats with either early or advanced kidney disease.

Phosphorus, magnesium and sodium

- Provided recipes contain ~0.7 to 1.1 g phosphorus per 1000 kcal ME when prepared with CompleteMe Renal Feline, which is similar to commercial renal diets like Purina NF Early Care and Advanced Care, or Royal Canin Renal. The phosphorus content varies in the recipes according to stage of disease
- The calcium content of the supplement (and therefore overall diet) is important, as is the calcium to phosphorus ratio, why? Because cats with early CKD may develop hypercalcaemia when fed diets with highly restricted phoshorus and a higher calcium to phosphorus ratio
- The recipes provided by the VNG all have controlled sodium which meets but does not exceed the FEDIAF minimum for adult cats because excessive sodium intake may increase progression of kidney disease

Instructions for Use
CompleteMe Renal Feline has beed designed to be used in conjunction with the various recipes that have been created by The Veterinary Nutrition Group’s Certified Veterinary Nutritionists®. They have been formulated with a numerous variety of protein and ingredient choices. These recipes can be used for cats with either early kidney disease (IRIS stage 1–2) or advanced kidney disease (IRIS stage 2–4). All recipes have been formulated to have the optimal amount of protein, fat, phosphorus, sodium, calcium, fibre, and omega-3 fatty acids for cats with kidney disease.

Storage and Care Instructions
Please store in the fridge to promote freshness. Do not introduce moisture into the bag; ensure your teaspoon is clean and dry.
Please Note: When introducing anything new to your cat’s diet, it is recommended to introduce it slowly. Doing this allows your cat to slowly become accustomed to the new smell and flavour, which is particularly important in senior cats that have a reduced appetite. It also helps to avoid any gastro-intestinal upset. Introduce gradually by beginning with only a small amount per day, and gradually increasing to the required amount over time.
Can I use raw meat?
Yes, CompleteMe Renal Feline can be used with raw or cooked meat, like chicken breast or thigh, kangaroo, turkey, or pork. We recommend using human-grade meat, and freezing any meat to be fed raw for a minimum of 10 days. For areas with Trichinella, please freeze pork for 3 weeks before use.
In areas with highly pathogenic avian influenza, we recommend not feeding raw poultry of any kind.
Can I add this to canned food or kibble?
No, CompleteMe Renal Feline should never be added to any type of commercial diet, including canned diets or kibble. This could result in harmful excesses of some nutrients. This product should only be used to make a homemade diet for kidney disease.
However, it is fine to feed a homemade renal diet along with a commercial renal diet, so long as both diets are appropriate and properly formulated. For example, feeding 50% Royal Canin Early Renal canned diet and 50% homemade renal diet would be fine.
Can I just add this to meat only? I don’t want to follow a recipe/guide.
VNG feeding guides/recipes include meat only, with some other recommended additives like omega-3 fatty acids and fibre. You don’t have to add carbohydrates like rice or potato if you don’t want to.
We recommend using VNG guides/recipes, because they explain how to combine fattier and leaner meats to achieve the preferred protein and phosphorus content for the diet.
If you add CompleteMe Renal Feline to just any meat, you may end up feeding a diet that is too low or high in protein, or too low or high in phosphorus, for your cat’s medical needs.
My cat is allergic to chicken, can I use this?
Yes, CompleteMe Renal Feline does not contain any poultry protein (chicken, turkey or duck), or any egg protein. It also does not contain fish, beef, lamb, venison, dairy, pork, wheat, corn, or rice.
